Neem - a miracle ingredient from India

Neem - a miracle ingredient from India

August 25, 2017

Hello dear

there will probably be a lot of foreign words in today’s blog post, but all of them connected to one - neem. Does it ring a bell? Of course! The powder from leaves from the Neem tree, often known by its Latin name Azadirachta indica, is one of the key ingredients in my brand new MARK Green tea face mask.

I bet you already know that all my scrubs are home-made in Slovakia, which is where I come from.  But since I am a big traveller, I decided to get inspired and flew all around the globe for some ingredients for my green tea face mask. For the neem leaf powder to India, to be specific. You can find it in almost every garden in India, it is that popular. I’m very picky when it comes to ingredients, but I swear this journey was totally worth it. So what is so interesting about it?

Neem has been celebrated for its healing properties for thousands of years now and not only on the Indian subcontinent. Hardly could we find a health issue this miraculous plant couldn’t deal with. This is thanks to its antibacterial, antimycotic and anti-inflammatory abilities. It is used in various forms, as oil extracted from the leaves, infused in hot water for tea, or even in toothpastes. Just a little side note - if you come across a form of neem that is meant for eating and consumption, consult with your doctor, I am no expert in that. As you might guess, from all the forms of neem, it’s the powder for external use that I fell in love with. 😊

Because neem has become a holy grail in its region of origin, I decided to list down several points summing up its magical properties.

  1. Antiviral properties
Neem leaf extract eliminates viruses by absorbing them and therefore protecting the surrounding areas and preventing the virus from spreading. This applies to viral diseases such as chickenpox or herpes.
  1. Blood cleanser
From the inside, neem is beneficial to cardiac health as well. It purifies your blood and maintains healthy levels of blood sugar. It helps with elevated heart rates and controls high blood pressure.
  1. Anti-inflammatory properties
Thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, neem cures muscle aches and joint paint. Neem oil massages relieve muscle stiffness or rheumatism.
  1. Treating poisons
Effective anti-clotting agents hidden in neem extract work against poisoning or insect bites. The same implies to ulcers and inflammations.
  1. Minor wounds and burns
Little injuries are healed faster when treated with neem water or paste. It helps the injuries heal faster and closes open wounds, protecting them from infections and other mess.
  1. Beautiful hair
Hair is not left behind! When the right methods are used, neem’s  antibacterial properties fights dry scalp skin, dandruff and hair fall.
  1. Healing acne
And the last but not least - when used right, neem will help you get rid of acne, blackheads, whiteheads, breakouts as well as open pores. Besides healing your current issues, its antibacterial properties act as a blockage to future breakouts and the antioxidants minimize acne scarring and hyperpigmentation. Your skin is left fresh and stretched, thanks to the fatty acids and vitamin E in neem, helping to prevent wrinkles and other signs of ageing. Now you know why I love it 😊 These are the reasons why I mixed neem in my MARK Green tea face mask, which is recommended especially for problematic and acne-prone skin.

If you have sensitive eyes, you may find that they will be watering while using my green tea face mask. If this is your case, don’t panic! It is a natural reaction actually caused by the neem powder. The solution is easy - right after applying the mask, cover your eyes with cucumber slices or a little face towel. This way your eyes are protected and MARK Green tea face mask is free to do its job. Your face will appreciate it!

I believe you will give this Indian miracle a try. Don’t forget to write me your impressions and thought! 😊

Yours faithfully,
